Week 1: Top 25 Poll

Our Top 25 Poll doesn't have much movement from the preseason poll, yet some significant changes do occur across the board. One team fell out of the Top 10 while two fell out of the Top 25 in what was a fairly easy week for most of the top teams.

Top 25 Poll:
  1. LSU
  2. Oklahoma
  3. Alabama
  4. Stanford
  5. Boise State
  6. Florida State
  7. Wisconsin
  8. Oklahoma State
  9. Texas A&M
  10. Nebraska
  11. Virginia Tech
  12. South Carolina
  13. Arkansas
  14. Oregon
  15. Ohio State
  16. Michigan State
  17. Mississippi State
  18. West Virginia
  19. Missouri
  20. Auburn
  21. Baylor
  22. Texas
  23. Arizona State
  24. USC
  25. Penn State
New This Week: Penn State, Baylor
Dropped From Poll: #14 TCU, #23 Notre Dame
Maybe Next Week: Florida, Utah, TCU, Iowa

LSU leads our poll this week with their commanding win over the (3) Oregon Ducks. The 40-27 thumping was by far the most impressive showing of the night and, perhaps, the season. It still remains to be seen how good Oregon can be, but if they give off a good performance the rest of the year this win could be gigantic for LSU. Oklahoma and Alabama round out the top 3. Both teams dropping a spot is not a slight on them in any way, it's more of a praise for LSU and their fine performance.

Stanford climbs to #4 and takes Oregon's place as the highest ranked Pac 12 team. Boise State is the newest member of the top 5 after their impressive win over the Georgia Bulldogs. Stanford's Pac 12 rival Oregon finds itself at #14 after their loss to LSU. The Ducks are by no means out of the BCS hunt as they are still one of the most feared offensive teams in the country.
Baylor QB Robert Griffin III

Two teams dropped from our poll this week, #14 TCU and #23 Notre Dame lost to Baylor and South Florida respectively. Speaking of Baylor, they find their way into the top 25 with that impressive performance over TCU. Robert Griffin III played an outstanding game and the Bears have certainly earned a spot in the top 25 with their performance. Penn State is the second team to climb into the top 25 this week, taking the final spot in our poll.

It was an exciting first week of play, and it only gets better from here as the powerhouse teams begin to take on more difficult opponents. Is LSU for real? Will Oregon bounce back? Is that Florida State-Oklahoma match up going to yield a new front runner? We'll find out as the season progresses.

  1. Alabama is going to the top of this list...

  2. Notre Dame should have never been ranked in the first place, they should nothing last year, and there was no reason to expect a great improvement this year.
